Bath coach hoping for a fairytale ending?

It seems as though Steve Meehan has been watching one too many sports films, as the Bath coach decided to call a dramatic crisis meeting.

He told the Bath Chronicle that he summoned all his players and coaches on Monday in order to address the problems facing the team.

They've won just one Guinness Premiership game this season and are above only Leeds Carnegie in the table.

But perhaps Meehan believes that he can play the role of the beleaguered high school American football coach, who gives a rousing speech to a dejected group of under-par performers and inspires them to greatness and victory in the big championship game.

"If you had been in the room with us you would have seen the frustration and the emotion of things and just how badly everyone wants to put it right," he said.

It should be easy to gauge how effective the tactic is likely to turn out to be this weekend, as Bath face third-placed Northampton Saints on Saturday.
