Bath beat Northampton in a tight game at the Rec to keep their hopes of a play off place intact.

Coming from behind, the hosts managed to overhaul the point difference in the second half with a tries from Lee Mears and Matt Banahan, and three penalties and a conversion from Olly Barkley gave Bath the spoils.

The unusual midweek game played in front of a packed crowd of 11,615 people as the Saints were looking to cement their place in the top four, but it was Bath who emerged with the points to lift them to with a point of fifth placed London Irish.

Northampton, who rested several high profile stars, secured the losing bonus point which see's them remain just behind local rivals Leicester Tigers.
