Guinness Premiership > London Wasps

Fans expecting to see Sale play Wasps on Friday night were left seething and it seems the Sharks players were equally frustrated.

A ridiculous Guinness Premiership rule allowed the visiting Wasps coaches to hop on their buses and leave Edgeley Park without repercussion because they reckoned the pitch was unplayable.

Even though the referee believed the game could go ahead, the London side were able to force a postponement.

Sale winger Mark Cueto, for one, says a replay would be ridiculous, calling for his side to be awarded the points.

"What happened was an absolute joke. I watched Bath play London Irish the following day in probably ten times worse conditions than we had," the England winger told the Mirror, adding that the incident "makes a mockery" of the tournament.

On the night, fans were not actually told by Sharks chief executive James Jennings that the match wouldn't be taking place until after the scheduled kickoff time - by which point Wasps were back on their bus.
