Falcons fans - grab your shovels!

The Falcons are hoping snow won't be a problem

Rugby has always been a game for all seasons, with steely men at grassroots level in particular willing to pull on their boots come rain or shine. Or snow.

Indeed, this weekend's clashes in the snow included Harlequins' visit to Sale Sharks, which frankly made a mockery of Wasps' decision not to play because of a few puddles at Edgeley Park a few weeks earlier.

But with the white stuff falling pretty heavily across the UK, Newcastle Falcons are taking no chances that their Sunday game against Leeds will go ahead.

They're asking fans to head to the stadium tomorrow, armed with wheelbarrows and shovels to help clear snow off the pitch.

The effort was originally scheduled for Sunday morning, but "specialist advice and revised weather forecasts" have prompted the move to bring it forward.

And in addition to the knowledge that they're helping their club out of a fix, fans are being offered a free drink for their trouble - which should go down well at Kingston Park.
