The red card that Worcester's Tom Wood received against Bath has been deemed sufficient and the player will not be subject to any more sanctions.

That is the judgment of a Rugby Football Union disciplinary panel, which ruled that the two yellow cards and subsequent sending off which Wood had during Saturday's game was enough not to warrant further punishment.

Wood is now free to play immediately, which is likely to boost the hopes of coach Mike Ruddock with his side just a point above Leeds in the battle to avoid relegation.

However, Ruddock has said that even a drop to the lower leagues will not affect his side's chances of signing new blood in the off-season.

"We will have some announcements in the next few weeks. I think you will see before the end of the season a number of good players joining up," he commented.

For now, Ruddock will have to make do with the players he has, with Wood perhaps counting himself lucky that he will be available for the clash with Newcastle this Friday (February 23rd).
