Jamie Roberts scored a crucial try shortly after the break to turn the tide in a match that ended with the Cardiff Blues winning the European Challenge Cup and being the first Welsh side to win a European Tournament.

Toulon had initially held Roberts and his team up over their own line following repeated attacks, but Roberts eventually broke through the barrie to score a vital tide turning try.

Further scores from Leigh Halfpenny and Brad Davies gave the Blues a final score of 28-21 at the Stade Velodrome in Marseille.

Thomas Sourice gave Toulon late hope with a try two minutes from time, but Tom May (who had taken the kicking duties over from the injured Jonny Wilkinson) failed to convert the try leaving Toulon needing a converted try to draw level.

The Blues held on for the final remaining minutes to record a historic win.  A win that also secures a place in the Heineken Cup for their domestic colleagues the Scarlets.
