Mathew Tait has revealed that he would consider making the move to France if the deal and timing were right.

The England star, who plies his trade at club level with beleaguered Sale, has not been deterred by the tug of war between Stade Francais and England over James Haskell and said a Top 14 switch is certainly not out of the question.

"I am happy at Sale at the moment. Fingers crossed we will still be in it [the Premiership] next season. If offers come from France we will cross that bridge when we come to it," he told the Daily Telegraph.

Tait added that he has been discussing the possibility of dropping out of the league with Mark Cueto and both agree it is a very "uncomfortable" prospect.

Another person in some discomfort at the moment is Martin Johnson, who revealed that the side went through an awkward debrief following the game against Ireland and feels that the match should have been won by the home side last weekend.
