Concern has been building for years that too many matches are being packed into the rugby calendar and now that a cold snap has gripped the UK they seem to be justified.

Three of this weekend's six Guinness Premiership games have already been postponed, which wouldn't be much of a problem if there were any other space in which to play them.

It seems the Six Nations weekends of March 13th and 20th are the likely candidates for rescheduled fixtures, meaning the clubs involved will be without their international stars.

But that's also when the semi-finals and final of the LV= Cup are due to be played and both Wasps and Sale - who are already a game behind after Wasps refused to play at a wet Edgeley Park in November - are currently leading their pools.

The good news for fans is that the London team's trip to Leicester Tigers looks to be going ahead, with Wasps the last visiting side to win at Welford Road, having done so in September 2008.
