Leicester have been kicking up a fuss over the incident that saw Ospreys temporarily field 16 men at the weekend, but one observer has belittled their complaints.

Writing for the Western Mail, Andy Howell noted that Lee Byrne's presence could not have had the effect on the game that some in the Tigers camp are claiming.

The English side has lodged an official complaint and is requesting a replay, having missed out on the quarter-finals of the Heineken Cup thanks to the 17-12 loss.

But Howell disputed the claim that Byrne interfered in Leicester's best chance to score, as the tackle he made was outside the Ospreys' 22, rather than being close to the line.

"To say it definitely affected the outcome of a riveting tie is entirely wrong with nearly ten minutes remaining," he said.

A disciplinary committee is set to hear the case of misconduct and complaints against Ospreys and Byrne on Friday (January 29th).ADNFCR-2652-ID-19582768-ADNFCR
