So What's The Deal Then

King's Park stadium is very good. The Stadiums is still in good nick and there is always a good vibe in the stadium. On the night before the game go to Cottonfield's in Umhlanga for a drink or two. There is usually a good vibe there.

On the day of the game you should head to Joe Cool's on the beachfront. You can have breakfast there if you are really hungover but there must be 20 other places nearby that will be better. About two hours before the kick off start making a move to the stadium and as you go in head towards the sea-side of the stadium, there is a a big field there and usually there is a band or some form of entertainment going to get you in the mood for a bit of fun.

If you are a VIP then you will probably have a ticket to one of the big tents there which are usually sponsored by Castle Lager (awful stuff if you ask me). There's usually a bit of food around in the tent and boerewors (a very coarse South African sausage) rolls are on sale alsmost anywhere you seem some smoke.

You are not supposed to drink in the stadium at King's Park but most people get to smuggle in a beer or two. I didnt find a decent pub to pop into at half time but I am sure there are a few. My seat was direclty behind the posts and to be honest they were crap. I would have much preferred to be on the sideline somewhere and I think a bit higher up would have been nice.

Once the game has finished then you can return to the field on the side of the stadium which if the home side lost should be half full. It will be a lot fuller if the home side won. The will be a band or soem dancers on the stage for a bit of time.

I have heard that somewhere in the stadium there is actually a night club. A mate of mine went there but he had drunk a few too many too explain exactly where it was. What he could tell me was that the view of the field from the the nigt club was great. So that is something to investigate.

If you are in Durban and fancy looking at a few semi-clad ladies then head for the nearest gate, hail a taxi and tell the driver to take you to "Teaser's". It's a strip club and its usually full of out of towners who left the wife at home on rugby days.

If you just fancy a drink ask the taxi driver to take you to a "Keg".

On the day after the match if your head doesnt hurt too much then head for the beach at Umhlanga (the city beach is a bit dirty and full of thugs) and have a dip in the warm sea.
