The Wallbies opened their account against their Northern Hemiphere opposition with a 36-5 win against Gloucester at Kingsholm.

The antipodeans fielded a weakened side against the Guiness Premiership outfit saving their big guns for England on Saturday, however they still had enough gas in the tank to blow away the west country club.

Fly half Quade Cooper gave head coach Robbie Deans much to think about ahead of the test match series scoring 16 points and dictating the Wallabies play.

Cooper started the scoring by converting an early penalty and executing a near perfect cross field kick to set up centre Ryan Cross to score.

Tries from Tyrone Smith and two from Drew Mitchell saw the Wallabies take the spoils comfortably, with only a single try from Freddie Burns affecting the scoreline.

Australia now turn their attention to England next up and Deans will be hoping the momentum of an opening win will carry on through to Twickenham.
