Wallabies going out of their way to lose?

In the process of succumbing to a shock defeat against Scotland, the Wallabies managed to find whole new ways of losing a game.

That's the observation of Gagger, writing for Green and Gold Rugby, as he expressed his frustration at Australia's inability to execute.

Robbie Deans's side were all geared up to embark on a grand slam tour of the British Isles, but after a mediocre performance led to a win against England the dream slipped away at the last moment in Dublin.

And on Saturday the tourists sank to new lows as opportunities were squandered - Quade Cooper's forward pass far from the worst of these.

Gagger pointed to the "innovation" of the Wallabies as they twice managed to fall over the try line on their banks.

"If you planned to throw a match as part of a betting scandal, this would have been far too elaborate a route," was the frank assessment.
