Wallaby fans choose team of the decade

Gregan was an obvious choice

As we prepare to enter a new year and a new decade, rugby fans in Australia have - like so many around the world - been reflecting on recent achievements.

Or, in the Wallabies' case, the lack of them. But the last ten years has seen some legendary players take to the field down under and Green and Gold Rugby has honoured them by selecting its team of the noughties.

Some of the choices required little debate - the fly-half combination of George Gregan and Stephen Larkham for example - but others are somewhat controversial.

Revealing the 15, Noddy explained: "There were some tough decisions, such as balancing the player's overall career compared to what he put on there this decade."

This was evident in the selection of John Eales, whose legendary status was enough to give him a place despite retiring in 2001, while Chris Latham was just about able to claim the full-back berth ahead of Matt Burke.

Perhaps most interesting of all, however, was Matt Giteau's selection at 12, in addition to receiving the second-highest number of fly-half votes!
