John Smit: Hooker or prop?

Surely Smit should remain at hooker
Wednesday 25 November 2009
The South African scrum has been blown away on the current tour of the northern hemisphere and du Randt told keo.co.za it's clear where the weak link is.
Smit started the match against Italy at tighthead, but he is one of the world's best hookers and a massive improvement came when he switched back to his usual position.
This, of course, has led to plenty of speculation over where the skipper will line up against Ireland on Saturday, but du Randt reckons the best option is obvious.
"It's not really that important who starts at prop, the main thing is for John to play hooker," he said.
Grand slam champions Ireland have already named their squad, but a host of injuries for the Boks means Peter de Villiers is keeping everyone guessing until tomorrow.
