Gatland's men will take on South Africa in June
Wednesday 3 March 2010
Warren Gatland's men will go up against the Springboks in a friendly on June 5th as preparation for their tour of New Zealand and will be looking to tarnish South Africa's impressive record, but only if they perform in both halves of the match.
The Welsh Rugby Union (WRU) also stated its desire to host pre-summer tests in the future, with chief executive Roger Lewis saying that Gatland wants his team "to face the best".
"This will undoubtedly be the showcase rugby occasion of the summer in the northern hemisphere and is a great coup for Wales. We are now seriously building towards next year's Rugby World Cup," Lewis said.
According to the WRU, the game will also commemorate the first ever match at the Millennium Stadium between Wales and South Africa and will give the home support a chance to give the side a send-off before its tour of New Zealand.
