Gareth Delve's move to the new Super 15 competition next year should not damage his chances of playing for Wales, according to his future head coach.

Next year Delve will transfer from Gloucester to Melbourne Rebels, and coach Rod Macqueen said there is no reason why Delve cannot continue to be a major player on the international scene even though he will be plying his trade down under.

"I would hope he still has the opportunity to play for Wales if needed. He would have an opportunity at some stage, if he is playing well enough. Wales might look at him for the 2011 World Cup. But that is up to the Welsh Rugby Union," he explained.

The Rebels have already signed Danny Cipriani in a move which Martin Johnson made clear would damage the Englishman's chances of playing for his country in next year's World Cup.

However, Macqueen said that Delve will be encouraged to play for Wales, despite next year's Super 15 competition going head to head with the 2011 Six Nations.
