Cardiff boos won't trouble the coaches

Cardiff won, but it was a dull affair

The fans may not have been thrilled by Cardiff Blues' Heineken Cup win over Toulouse at the weekend, but that doesn't appear to bother head coach David Young.

In the latest confirmation that those at the top are concerned only with victory - at the expense of genuine entertainment for the paying public - the Blues boss said he won't be losing any sleep over the tryless encounter.

Cardiff beat the French side 15-9 on Saturday in a game that saw the home fans boo their own side thanks to the proliferation of kicking.

And it's a problem that's caused some supporters to call for changes in the rules in order to restore some reason for neutrals to even bother tuning in.

But Young says it's simply about grinding out the victory, stating: "We all want to play attacking rugby and we all want to score tries from all parts of the field, but it doesn't quite happen like that in some of the bigger games."
