Gareth Thomas' sensational switch to rugby league will go ahead tomorrow (March 5th), sources have claimed.

The veteran star will play for Brian Noble's side in Super League after signing papers, with a close friend of the player telling the Daily Post that the deal is done and dusted.

"Gareth has really enjoyed doing his rugby academies in north Wales over the last four years, and has always been really impressed with the level of enthusiasm from the youngsters," he said.

Thomas, affectionately known as Alfie, has played rugby union for Wales on 100 occasions and also represented the British Lions three times, but the source claimed that he is looking for a new challenge despite turning 36 years old this July.

Brian Noble has often expressed his admiration for Thomas and thinks the veteran could play a key role in helping Crusaders push for a play-off place, while developing rugby league in Wales.
