Danny Cipriani's aim of playing in the new-look Super 15 tournament has been dealt a blow after England coach Martin Johnson warned that it could spell the end of his international career.

The 22-year-old fly-half had seemingly made up his mind to move to new Super 15 outfit Melbourne and the financial arrangements were reportedly in place, but Johnson's warning seems to have softened Cipriani's resolve.

He said: "My dream is to play in the next World Cup. I want to play for England again. I aim to be in the best possible position to make that happen."

Cipriani added that he will "kick himself" if he gets to the age of 30 and has not won over 50 caps for England.

Melbourne remain confident about recruiting Stade Francais centre Mark Gasnier, however, with the former rugby league star impressing head coach Rod Macqueen so far this season.
