Imanol Harinordoquy has been hailed the player of the tournament in this year's Six Nations championship after inspiring France to the Grand Slam with some awesome displays.

The number 8, who plies his trade at club level with Biarritz, was the stand-out performer in almost every game for Les Bleus and was a certainty to make the Eurosport team of the tournament, which included no less than eight France players.

Thomas Domingo, William Servat, Nicolas Mas and Lionel Nallet dominated numbers 1 to 4 as the French scrum swept all before it in their year's competition, Servat in particular imposing himself at hooker in place of Dimitri Szarzewksi.

Morgan Parra, Yannick Jauzion and Clement Poitrenaud, who led the French attack devastatingly against Ireland all got a mention, but the plaudits were reserved for Harinordoquy.

"A superb line-out operator, with excellent hands, decent pace and a wonderful knack for being in the right place at the right time when Les Bleus are on the offensive. Probably the best number 8 in world rugby," Eurosport said.
