Ireland's Jerry Flannery could face a ban if he is adjudged to have deliberately kicked France's Alexis Palisson during the Six Nations encounter at the Stade de France last Saturday.

Flannery is set to appear before a disciplinary committee after being cited for the incident – which occurred when the Irishman was supposedly attempting to kick the ball in mid-air, only to swipe the legs out from under the French winger.

The hearing will take place this week and, if punished, the Irish number 2 may be forced to watch from the sidelines as his team take on England a week on Saturday in what is fast becoming a crucial clash to each team's championship hopes.

Meanwhile, Palisson appears to have made a sufficient recovery from the 'kick', as he has been named in Marc Lievremont's unchanged squad to face Wales at the Millennium Stadium on February 26th for the third round of the Six Nations.
