An Irish newspaper has stoked the fire ahead of the Six Nations clash between Ireland and Wales by claiming that Warren Gatland's side are easy to dislike.

According to the Irish Independent, Gatland's non-stop complaints and taunts against other nations has made him the easy subject of criticism, with his so-called personal agenda against Ireland akin to that of a "menopausal warthog".

Vincent Hogan, who wrote the column, stated: "So, what will it be this time? Or, more pointedly, who? Gatland has a problem with Irish rugby. He believes that business between them has been soured by a toxic, personal agenda."

Gatland had his chance to respond, however, saying that the article should be "treated with the disdain" that it was written with and the issue put to rest. For now.

Gwyn Jones has called on Wales to defeat the Irish this weekend to prevent people thinking that the side has gone backwards since last season's tilt at the Six Nations title.
