Six Nations to be screened in high definition

The Six Nations tournament is going high definition
Thursday 28 January 2010
This year, every bead of sweat, blade of grass and eye gouge will be in crystal-clear quality after the broadcaster confirmed that the tournament is going high definition and it also marks the tenth anniversary of it becoming a six-team tournament.
BBC Six Nations rugby editor Carl Hicks said the tournament continues to keep people on the edge of their seats, with any team capable of registering a victory over another, though Ireland taking on Italy may be an exception.
"It's quite apt, then, that the occasion will be even more of a viewing spectacle as every game from the northern hemisphere's premier rugby tournament will be available in high definition," he said.
Meanwhile, Welsh fans look set to miss out on the 3-D viewing of the opening match against England after organiser O2 admitted that only cinemas west of the border will be screening the match.
