Wales coach Warren Gatland has called up Dwayne Peel for this weekend's clash with France in the hope that the scrum half can be the difference maker.

Peel impressed for Sale on Friday despite his side being turned over by Leeds at Edgeley Park and Gatland feels that his inclusion will give the fractured side a more solid look when the Six Nations favourites come to Cardiff this Friday (February 26th).

"It was important for us to see Dwayne come through 80 minutes of rugby. But once he proved his fitness it's obvious that a player of his experience and talents would provide a welcome boost to any squad," Gatland said.

Peel has been struggling with a groin injury and has missed the opening games of the tournament but the player, who has 72 international caps, will lend his experience to a team still buoyant over the comeback victory against Scotland.

Meanwhile, Gatland will name the starting line-up for the France game at 17:00 GMT today, with James Hook likely to be a certainty due to his impressive performances so far.
