Julian Huxley will make an inspirational return to Super 14 on Friday night when he starts for the Brumbies in Canberra.

Huxley has spent two years on the sidelines after being diagnosed with a brain tumour but has fought back and will now start the game against Chiefs.

Brumbies coach Andy Friend said that Huxley's performances for the reserve team have been very encouraging since he was medically cleared to play three weeks ago and the night will be a special moment for his family and friends.

"For those out at Canberra Stadium on Friday night, they'll witness a great spectacle in more ways than one. You'll get to see Hux's return after a courageous fightback while the Chiefs are one of the most attacking sides in the competition," Friend said.

Stirling Mortlock will also make his return for the Brumbies against Chiefs with Friend confident that the veteran centre can use his experience to inspire the side to victory.
