Bulls will hope to keep a tighter ship ahead of their Super 14 tour Down Under next week, after another victory and another huge scoreline.

Last weekend they beat the Highlanders 50-35 after scoring four tries in the opening 24 minutes and now sit top of the table with a maximum 20 points from their opening matches, but coach Frans Ludeke admitted that defensive frailties must be addressed before the games in Australia and New Zealand.

"We are definitely not happy with the defensive effort. But we will have to see where we can be sharper and stop these soft moments creeping into our game. Luckily it is something we can do something about," he explained.

Victor Matfield, who captained Bulls for the 50th time in the Highlanders game, said that the key for his side will be sustaining the momentum they built up in the first half for the full 80 minutes.

Highlanders' captain Jamie Mackintosh admitted that his team were simply relieved to make a game of it in the second half, after "staring down the barrel of 100 points" when conceding five tries in the opening 30 minutes.
