Rugby fans in Australia will get the chance to mingle with some of their heroes this week, as the Warratahs attempt to reach out to the public.

With a trial match against the Queensland Reds scheduled for this Saturday, a Dine with the Warratahs event is being held after the open captain's run training session on Friday.

Skipper Phil Waugh and vice-captain Berrick Barnes won't be playing in the match, but they'll be mingling with supporters over the course of the weekend.

And with the first game of 2010 giving players the opportunity to secure a place in the side for the coming Super 14 season, head coach Chris Mickey was keen to highlight its significance.

"You can never underestimate the importance of trials in terms of what they mean to individuals and what it means to the on-field development of the squad," he said.

The Warratahs will have two further pre-season games before kicking off their Super 14 campaign against the Reds on February 13th.
