Though Australian Rugby Union chief executive John O'Neill has claimed that entertaining rugby is a must if the code is to compete with its popular cousin rugby league, Hickey said that the main aim of any game must be to win.
Speaking to the Sydney Morning Herald, Hickey said that many teams have attempted to win playing flash rugby and ended up little more than a flash in the pan as the opposition grinds out a result.
''If you set out just to entertain, you are probably not going to win many games. It's a matter of coming up with the balance between the two," he added.
O'Neill may want to have a word with his captain Phil Waugh, however, who told the Daily Telegraph that entertaining the masses is top of the agenda this year.
