South African rugby pundits have taken a leaf out fo the German football fans books by employing their own mystic octopus to predict who will win the opening Tri Nations fixture between the Springboks and the New Zealand All Blacks this weekend.

Mark is rugbys version of the invertebrate predictor and following the unprecedented success of German octopus Paul who has risen to global fame via his series of predictions in the Fifa World Cup, has cast his prediction over the over the outcome of Saturdays rugby match.

Mark was given the choice of two containers containing a mussel and marked with a country flag for both South Africa and New Zealand.  Following a brief moments pause to choose Mark identified South Africa's box as his prefered food option and therefore flagging up the Boks as the likely winners of saturdays game.

The game at Eden Park in Auckland is the opening game of the 2010 Tri Nations with the Springboks looking to defend their crown.
